Read the pattern, not only the tread depth
Wear concentrated on one shoulder can suggest alignment or load issues, while wear across both shoulders often points toward prolonged under-inflation. Centre wear can relate to pressure, but vehicle and tyre design still matter.
Vibration is a separate clue
Steering vibration at a repeatable speed may involve balance, wheel damage, tyre distortion or suspension components. A vehicle pulling to one side can require different checks.
- Check pressures when tyres are cold
- Look for bulges, cuts and exposed cords
- Compare wear across the axle
- Arrange prompt inspection after a hard impact
Alignment cannot repair worn parts
If a joint, bush or bearing has excessive movement, alignment adjustment alone may not remain accurate. Visible wear should be addressed in the right order.
Do not delay unsafe tyre damage
Bulges, deep cuts, exposed structure and severe pressure loss require urgent attention. Avoid driving on a tyre that may fail.
